Ibenu Sharon is a communications officer with extensive knowledge of media and public relations. She is enthusiastic and extremely driven to achieve positive outcomes. Having worked previously with marketing and public relations firms, Sharon climbed her way up to now the communications expert at the African Forum For Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) with its secretariat based in Uganda. She is also supporting with Knowledge Management and Communications at the Eastern Africa Field Schools Support Hub that is currently hosted by AFAAS. I am Mirjam Taapopi, a Namibian female who resides in Windhoek. My qualifications are a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Environmental Management from the University of Namibia and the University of the Free State, South Africa respectively. I am a Liberian. I work for the Central Agriculture Research Institute (CARI) in Liberia as a Research Assistant in the Tree Crops Unit. Having a passion for agriculture, I studied General Agriculture at the Cuttington University in Suakoko, Bong County, Liberia, from where I graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree. In 2019, I obtained advanced training in Hybrid Rice Seed and Crop Production Technology at the Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co. Ltd. in Changsha, People’s Republic of China. My current job at CARI entails being part of a multi-disciplinary research team responsible for planning and implementing cocoa varietal and crop management research activities. I am mainly responsible for field data collection and entry, as well as the management of seedling nurseries and germplasm maintenance in the cocoa clonal garden at CARI. Also at CARI, I previously served in the rice research program for six (6) years, where I was responsible for field management and data collection. Mr. Odonkor is a research and knowledge management professional, an agricultural programme manager and expert in extension communication as well as the use of innovation systems approach for research. He has over fifteen years’ experience in participatory agricultural project development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. This expertise has been applied to issues in the USAID/University of Ghana Institutional Capacity Building for Agriculture Productivity Project, the Convergence of Sciences-Strengthening Innovation Systems (COS-SIS) Research Programme (phase one and two) at the University of Ghana, Legon, the Ahafo Agribusiness Growth Initiative (AAGI) Project of Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd, and Plan Ghana mid-term and final evaluations of Credit with Education in the Eastern and Western Regions of Ghana. Ezekiel has managed several international research programmes and projects and has coordinated data collection and analysis of several research assignments in the agricultural sector as well.
He has extensive experience in facilitating and managing multi-level and multi-disciplinary teams of scientists to conduct research. He has working experience with innovative platforms and various stakeholders including public, private sector and donors in the agricultural sector of Ghana. He is very experienced with donor funding agencies and their procedures as well as managing their funds. He is also well experienced in writing research proposals and using the innovation systems approach to conduct research. He has well developed skills in the use of Participatory Rural Appraisal tools (PRA) for data collection and analysis in research, an expertise he has employed in impact assessments of various agricultural projects in the Central, Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and all the five northern regions of Ghana. He is capable of conducting research independently, proficient in the collection, organization, and analysis of data, and capable of producing good quality report.

After earning my first and second degrees in Animal Science (Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, I opted for another master’s degree in Information Science to explore my passion for information technology and its applications. Voila, I got a job at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) after completing my studies—working with the digitization project team. Adeniran Olumide Morakinyo is currently a Communication & Knowledge Specialist at the Communication Unit, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).
Before Olumide decided to join IITA, he had already worked as a public relations officer in a health facility where he had put into practice the Linguistics knowledge garnered during his academic year as an undergraduate. However, there was no chance for advancement in his profession even when a position opened because of certain subjective criteria.
To get an opportunity for an advancement, Olumide applied for a Masters programme in Information Science at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria, where he focused on Information Literacy. This earned him a publication on “Information literacy of women on family planning in rural communities of Oyo State Nigeria” (https://doi.org/10.1177/0266666916661387).
Today, Olumide has been identified with the skills of information retrieval, document filtering, and information extraction.
